“If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”
Innovative. Methodical. Objective.
I prefer to be challenged with new and unexpected experiences.
Exploring things in depth and arriving at solutions to problems through experimentation comes naturally to me.
I am dedicated to the task on-hand and persist until it is complete — be it an ultramarathon (50 km, 50 mi, 100 mi), Ironman triathlon, or work.
Perpetually interested in finding out how things work.
Continual learner and deeply committed to self-improvement and helping others grow.
My Values
- Authenticity: say what you mean and mean what you say
- Honesty: don't cheat or steal
- Integrity: let principles, vice emotion, guide your actions
- Adventure: be bold and explore
- Self-Discipline: keep control over your mind and body
I feel most alive when I am:
- Doing things that get me out of my comfort zone (e.g., enrolling in an Baltimore Improv Group class, competing in a Toastmasters speech contest)
- Engaged in the service of others (e.g., teaching or mentoring others, volunteering in the community)
- Discovering new insights and understandings of how the world works (e.g., deriving a mathematical proof, learning a new fact that brings something full-circle)
I am an electrical engineer originally from the Midwest, now residing in Charles Town, WV (after having spent 7+ years in Baltimore and 1.5 years in Washington, D.C.).
Service and Discovery are both very meaningful and essential to me.
I am a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV), having served in the beautiful country of Morocco from 2011-2013 (27 months) — teaching English and health lessons to Berbers of the Ait Hadidou tribe in the High Atlas mountains.
I received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, a M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, as well as an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
